Welcome to KARNEF 2019

Dear Friends and Colleagues,

It is my great honor and pleasure to invite you to the 9th Meeting of cardiologists and nephrologists organized by Serbian Association for Cardionephrology and 4th International Congress of Cardionephrology and Hypertension "KARNEF 2019", to be held from May 17 to 19 2019. at Congress Hall in "Special hospital Ribarska Banja" in Ribarska Banja.

"KARNEF" has become a traditional meeting of cardiologists and nephrologists, with equal participation of doctors of other specializations: physiologists, pathophysiologists, clinical biochemists, pharmacologists, endocrinologists, pulmonologists, anesthesiologists, vascular and cardiac surgeons. It is, without a doubt, of utmost importance participation of pharmacists, chemists, and biologists, as well.

A multidisciplinary approach in patients with combined heart and kidney damage is of great importance in the early detection, prevention, and treatment, considering very complex etiopathogenesis of these diseases.

For the first time this year, we will talk about cardiopulmonary renal damages, as well as the relationship between the gastrointestinal tract and cardiorenal diseases, for which no special attention has been paid so far. 

The special thematic unit of this meeting is experimental cardionophrology and physical chemistry in cardionophrology which, as the basic areas, greatly contribute to the understanding of complex etiopathogenetic mechanisms and the interaction of the heart-kidney system.

The unavoidable topic of the meeting is arterial hypertension and its role in the onset and progression of cardiorenal damage, with the emphasis on new therapeutic possibilities.

The Conference will include plenary lectures, thematic sessions, workshops and meetings with experts from various fields of researches. Awards are provided for the best research work in the field of Cardionephrology.

As in previous years, there will be a large number of speakers and lecturers, from abroad, which certainly points out all the importance and the quality of this Congress

This is the 9th school of Cardionephrology, unique, not only in our country but in the region and in Southeastern Europe.

The work of the gathering will take place through plenary lectures, thematic sessions, workshops, and direct meetings of participants with experts from certain areas.

The role of Serbian Cardionephrology Association in scientific and educational work in the field of combined heart and kidney disease, as well as in the organization of such great events is recognized by the major international associations. As of March 2016, our organization has become an affiliate member of the International Society of Nephrology (ISN).

I cordially invite you to join us and to actively take part in the Conference and thus contribute to the further development of Cardionephrology in Serbia.
